Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 12 – $0.76

I know a couple of days have passed by and you’re probably wondering why I wasn’t posting anything. And probably thought I abandoned our ‘make money online’ quest. The reason for this to be honest, is the fact that I temporarily moved to my old town (Kisumu) in a bid to replace my lost birth certificate (which I did). I needed this for my passport application, which I am so excited to get (not yet though). Because I will be visiting the US in late winter, and soon after, Canada, in early spring. All of this will be done with the help of the finances I get from this challenge, that’s how much serious this is to.

So over the past couple of days, I’ve been pondering on a lot, trying to map out the best route I will opt for. As such, I thought why not keep working on the Picoworkers site (hence the new balance) while I figure out other ideas of how to make money online that actually work. So far this is the only site in my opinion that is generating cash. I am also yet to draft the plan (from the previous blog post) which I apparently have been procrastinating. Usually nothing gets done without a deadline and I’m setting that for tomorrow (29th Feb).

I’ve been thinking, if I could work on Picoworkers for a month generating $5/day, I would essentially have like $150. I know it’ll be daunting but that’s where we at with this ‘make money online’ adventure. I could then use this money to set up a dropshipping store with shopify by buying a shopify plan and a domain. Then I could use the rest of the balance for advertising to get clients to the store to buy. Depending on how it goes, I could set up other stores for other products as well. I could then scale the stores to generate even more cash which I could use to get into real estate. I don’t know about you, but so far those are my plans. Let’s see where it takes us!

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 11 – $0.65

Apologies for late posting of this blog update. I got caught up in planning and procrastinated. Have you ever wondered why you never seem to change your daily routines? If you’re like me, then every new year you make a list and promise yourself you’re going to achieve each and every one of those tasks. But how many do you ever get to do? In fact here is a simple question for you, which one have you done so far? Hell, which one have you started doing so far? For most people, the answer is NONE.

I found this book (actually my brother suggested it to me) titled, The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, and from what I gather, it only takes changing one habit. Just one habit, to greatly impact your life. He talks about how it worked for health, military, coaching and even in the corporate realm. If you could replace (not change, habits don’t change they are suppressed or lay dormant waiting for cues and triggers) just one habit, the effects would ripple to other areas of your life almost absolutely automatically. It got me thinking about my situation, I only need to replace a habit and I’ll be well on my way to prosperity. Of course changing your mindset also plays an emphatic role in achieving ultra levels of success, my point is, do you see how this works?

I want us to use and apply this idea together with the mindset re-programming meditation formulas we started earlier to enhance our performance. This is part of why I have decided to make a habit of blogging everyday, sharing my ideas of this journey on YouTube and later a podcast about skills no one ever teaches you on your journey to making money online. I have also decided to hone the skill of closing. Think about it, every business needs to close in order to stay in business, and how many businesses are there online? Do the math. It also has dawned on me that if I’m starting this money making venture with the mindset of profits, then I’m doing it wrong. The world doesn’t care about you, it cares about the value you bring. Once you master this, people will easily exchange money for the value you are offering. It’s that simple!

Now my next step is to figure out the plan of executing these ideas effectively. I can’t be messing around without a plan the way I started. Once I come up with a weekly schedule, then appropriate content, I’ll get to execution. Then we can start tweaking the process and replace what doesn’t work with what works as we go along until we hit $1,000,000.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 10 – $0.65

What a rollercoaster of emotions this is. Honestly, I thought making money online would be easier and much faster than this. In my mind, by now I was supposed to have made a few hundred dollars which I would use to invest in another venture and another until I hit the million dollar mark. I mean how hard can that be. Seriously, how is it that upto now I have no idea what I’m doing, what to do or how to do it. Is it affiliate marketing, is it academic writing, is it YouTube, is it eCommerce or dropshipping? I absolutely have no idea.

I’ve gotten to the point where I need serious advice and direction. I never knew I would be this undecided or thought I would suck at this. Is it the fear of failure? I don’t know. Is it lack of confidence in myself? Is it inadequate information? I don’t know either. This has led me to start looking for mentors who can guide me in the right direction. There are so many unpredictable variables involved in this that I have started to overthink, and quite frankly it is not doing me any good.

What if I choose the wrong business to get into? What if I don’t have the right skills? What if it fails? What if I actually ask too many questions and end up not doing anything? I feel like I walked myself into a trap. I’m literally swimming in a myriad of doubt and unanswered questions. I absolutely do not ‘gat’ this. I repeat, I absolutely do not ‘gat’ this.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 09 – $0.65

I was reading DotComSecrets by Russell Brunson (still half way through) yesterday and I was fascinated by the way he designs his funnels. What really caught my attention was the part where he says, he never goes into a business if he can’t find successful competitors. It generally means, if none of those in that particular business are making money, then that particular niche is not profitable. Which got me thinking, how many times do we as young and excited entrepreneurs, blindly go into a venture without actually doing the necessary basic research such as competitor analysis.

I am a victim of this behavior too, don’t get me wrong. But wouldn’t it be prudent to analyse your customers carefully after choosing your product/service niche, then similarly undertake the same for competitors just to get a feel of the market? Once I read and mauled over this concept, I was convinced that the number one reason for failure of most new businesses, is inadequate research and utterly blind hope for success. You see, we are living in an era where millennials want to achieve success, and they want it now chasing ‘how to make money online fast’ headlines. Unfortunately that’s not how the real world works.

I am so glad I accepted and took this challenge. The amount of knowledge I have gained and is still gaining in this short period is amazing. I get to read something after I have made a mistake and it amazes me how it is the exact same thing that I did. Whoever said knowledge is power knew what they were talking about (this is the updated version though: actionable knowledge is power).

I have realized that it is going to take me some time to craft a plan of action in order to avoid the shinny object syndrome. Without a plan of action, I am finding myself wanting to get into anything and everything. After some reading and intense thinking, I have come to the conclusion that affiliate marketing is not the way for me. It takes about a day (if you’re lucky) to 6 months at the very least to make money online that way (according to a recent blog post by Yuwanda). I’m starting to not become a real fan of luck. So it’s back to the drawing board for me. Oh, if you’re wondering where the additional cents came from it’s because I just checked my Picoworkers account, after stumbling upon a similar one Microworkers, and noticed my balance had increased (there is a sign up bonus I guess).

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 08 – $0.12

This ‘how to make money online’ scheme is proving to be a daunting task. I am still unsure of which direction to go and whether it will be faster or not. Now, I have read a couple of blogs that tell me in order to make about $100,000 a year, it is going to take me up to 2 years if I’m lucky. The reason for this, they say, is because of the fact that there is nothing like quick or easy money. And that making money online is not all roses and cherries (if you’re sort of into that kind of stuff) as most social media ‘influencers’ claim. It involves some real hard work, real sacrifices, patience and real commitment upfront. Are these qualities you have? Are you willing to pay the price? Are you willing to brave the hardship?

If your answer is no to any of those questions, I suggest you stop reading this post and go about your normal life. But if you answer yes to all of them, then welcome to the world of uncertainty. I can’t promise you success (hell I can’t even promise myself that) but I promise you we are on the right track. I am not preaching hope here, but I am merely suggesting that if we continue to search for the RIGHT knowledge and TAKE ACTION on the same, then we will be well on our way to $1,000,000.

Because my research so far suggests that we are basically doomed, I think there is only one way out of this. To actually do it and see for ourselves whether they are WRONG or WRONG (get it? There’s no room for failure). This adventure might seem like a way to make money online fast, given our time frame, but I assure you it is not. So here is an update. I have so far two options, one is affiliate marketing and the other is dropshipping. I have chosen to go with affiliate marketing because it currently fits the criteria we mentioned on the previous post (day 07). I have already chosen a niche (health & fitness related) and now I want to set up a website. The reason for this is so that I can be promoting those affiliate products indirectly on my website. This is important for creating an email list that will serve as our clientele base. And ultimately our pot of gold.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 07 – $0.12

After only a week of trying to make a million online without success, I feel beat. It’s no wonder there are very few billionaires in the world. This stuff needs work man! I mean I’m mentally exhausted to tell you the truth and if I keep at this my mind is going to explode. I have one confession to make here though, the reason for my exhaustion maybe my lack of focus on one thing. You see many of the successful people you see out there took a chance on one single idea and stuck with it till it made them rich. But what if you are like me, who has no idea and is still faced with the challenge of figuring out what to do and if it will really work. What do you do? Where do you get advice? Do you go with your gut feeling or choose something you love as most people suggest?

Granted, it might sound appealing to settle on the latter, but our gut feeling has never been known to make the right choices, if you’re like most people. You have to train it and condition it, just like any other skill, to make the right decisions on autopilot. Choosing something you love, also in this same manner, has not always been known to deliver millions. How many times do you see or hear about very passionate people living broke or worse, homeless. In order to be successful you have to think logically like most successful people and do away with HOPE.

To be honest, I was almost not writing this blog post today simply because I felt tired and it so far seems pointless. But then I remembered something. That is exactly what 99% of people do. Give up. We try something for a few days and if it doesn’t work we give up and try something else. We continue this cycle until we end up old, alone and broke or both. I have realized that I’m chasing too many things at a time that I don’t give each the required attention and focus. This, as I have recently learned, is known as Shinny Object Syndrome. If I had a team behind me, it would be a totally different story. Personally I’m all for doing things that would make me a lot of money. And if I can do multiple things simultaneously with the help of expert individuals, then even better. But I don’t have that kind of budget.

The challenge I’m facing so far is deciding on which activity to focus on and perfect it to generate money. This activity, in my opinion, should be something I can scale easily (given the short amount of time we have), something that can generate money even while I sleep, something I can be able to charge a premium for (without having to invest/re-invest a tonne of money into), something with zero or close to zero overheads and something I can master (If I don’t already have) in the shortest time possible. All of these point me in the direction of a Highly Specialized Skill. But what skill is that exactly? And how much time do I need to master this particular skill? How much will it cost? Is it the right skill? These are some of the questions I’m still pondering over as of now.

At this point I believe (just remembered belief is another word that will make you poor along with the others we talked about yesterday) that I am making the right change and moving in the right direction. Day 07 and the account is still at $0.12.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 06 – $0.12

I am quickly learning that making money online is not as easy a task as many of the ‘Gurus’ on social media claim. It has been 6 days and I haven’t added a dollar in my account. Most of those ‘Gurus’ claim you can start earning immediately then they quickly show you ‘proof’ of how much is in their accounts. After all, they say if they can do it then you can too. However, I am hereby telling you out of experience and research so far that you should not be as gullible and quick to agree. What I have also quickly learned is that it is difficult to actually make money online using the free ways available on social media. Frankly it is a waste of time because most of those ways are being done by everyone who has a computer and WiFi (it is saturated by people like you and I).

The real ways of making money online will never be revealed to you and if they ever are, they are never for free trust me. All of these ‘Gurus’ know that if they revealed those secrets then everybody would just copy them and their secret income-earning strategies would become worthless. I have tested some of those free methods and so far look where they have gotten me. Suffice to say, nothing is ever for free. I even recently read it in Napoleon Hill’s classic book, Think and Grow Rich (Yes I’m currently reading books too, don’t give me that look). He further says if you want to achieve something you will have to decide what you want to give to achieve it. Success ain’t cheap.

So this is the situation currently. I received an email yesterday from Essayshark that said and I quote “Your status has been changed to “Evaluation failed”. Imagine my surprise! Actually to be honest I expected nothing less (or more). I however, didn’t receive any feedback from the other writing websites so I’m still waiting on that. I also took a shot at freelance websites such as Guru, Freelancer, Hubstaff, Fiverr and even Upwork (which I haven’t completed signing up on). These websites basically work by letting you bid or apply on projects then you wait in the hope of getting accepted (Hope is among some of the very strong words that will make you poor). Nevertheless, I applied for a couple of tasks on the sites that I was able to get in on and well, I’m still ‘Hoping’ (which I literally can’t afford to). So this route isn’t going to work for us.

I also said I will try (oh yeah this is another very strong word that will make you poor too) affiliate marketing, which I did (not tried), but I’m still gathering more information on the same to see how I can effectively go about it. Warning: The road ahead is paved with so much uncertainty but that is where we should be comfortable because that is our new comfort zone. In summary I made nothing and our account is still the same.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 05 – $0.12

If you’re reading this blog for the first time, I suggest you go back and start from the beginning in order to catch up. The past few days have been interesting for me in that, I have earned so much knowledge and insight on ‘how to make money online’ ideas and which ones actually work for me. For the most part it has been challenging and undoubtedly difficult to maneuver. I have gone through 10s if not 100s of tutorials on the same subject, that it’s just utterly ridiculous to only have made $0.12 as of now(which I won’t be able to cash out by the way)

Now to give an update, so far I haven’t really landed on a substantial online money making idea or process. I went online and applied on other academic writing sites such as Bluecorp, Writerbay, and Essayshark, and I’m still waiting on a response. I also visited Superpay.me and signed up but most of the offers are not available in my country.

I further went on to set up the Teespring social media accounts we talked about yesterday, but was unfortunately met with a ‘There was an error with your registration. Please try registering again’ prompt multiple times on both accounts. That was immensely disappointing. Looks like I’m going to have to look for other ways to promote it.

I am thinking of testing out affiliate marketing next to see how it is and whether there is money on there. I have been checking out information on the same and it looks like all I need is a website and a good product that people actually buy. Sounds fairly easy right? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 04 – $0.12

Man I feel so overwhelmed, tired, confused, heart broken even. Is this why only the so-called 1% exist? I feel like I want to stop, give up and quit all together. Unfortunately, that is not an option for us so we are just going to have to power through. 3 days have gone by and not a single penny added in our account, how disappointing? It seems like making money online is becoming an impossible task. I know, many people have done it before and I’m only getting started plus I have no real experience and don’t know where to look for these opportunities, blah blah blah! The good news is, there is no room for defeat and failure, so we have no choice. The bad news is, time is running out and we cannot afford to keep making zero in our account.

So I went online to try and search how to kick-off my Teespring collection sale, and I found out in order to effectively pull it off, I needed social media accounts (specifically Instagram & Facebook) where I could share the merch to get people to purchase. I wasn’t successful in setting those up but I’m going to work on them tomorrow. I admittedly also tried to post a free advertisement on thefreeadforum.com but I never really got to doing it.

Next, I went online to search for academic writing sites available that I could easily register on and start earning. I looked up iWriter, writerbay, uvocorp among others but I quickly found out they have some not so easy to fulfill registration requirements. I wasn’t lucky to enroll in any of the sites and I don’t think that route will favor me. In any case I will still try with a few others tomorrow, and who knows, I might get lucky! Also, I am going to keep trying to find other ‘how to make money online’ ideas that might work.

Step-by-Step Guide to Millions – Day 3 – $0.12

Today I went on line with renewed energy after a disappointing run yesterday. I hardly slept because I kept wondering what else was I going to do to achieve my goal. Whatever I’ve tried so far isn’t fruitful and the once that seem promising all hinge on my paypal account verification.

So I decided I wasn’t going to wait for anything and went straight to work. I tried a couple of sites including GG2U which is basically a paid survey site to no avail. I also tried Webull app which is a stock trading app to see if I could get free stocks which I could trade in a few days for some cash, but also to no avail, I only got points which I didn’t see the use of. I went ahead and tried Transcribeme which is just what the name suggest but they had a complicated qualification exam and upcoming projects mainly for US citizens, so that didn’t help.

After all that failed, I settled on Teespring to try and design t-shirts which I could sell for profit since all I had to do was market them on social media. I made a couple of designs so the only thing remaining is to get them in front of prospective customers. I don’t know exactly the best way to do that and I’m hoping I can find out soon. Other than that I’m still waiting for my credit card to arrive so as to enable me link it to my shopify account in order to take off!

I am also still keeping an eye out for other opportunities in case they present themselves. Remember 1 million dollars is not easy money to come by therefore we need as much ideas as we can to execute in order to surmount to that total. All in all I made zero dollars today and we are still at $0.12.
